Kyle Harris Higashioka (born April 20, 1990) is an American professional baseball catcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 MLB draft, and made his MLB debut in 2017.

After starting his major league career 0-for-22, the longest hitless streak to start a Yankee career of any position player ever, he had his first major league hit, a home run, on July 1 against David Price of the Boston Red Sox.[18][19] His next two hits, on July 3 and July 4 against the Atlanta Braves, were also home runs, making him the ninth MLB player since 1920 to have three home runs as his first three hits.[20][21] With the Yankees in 2018, he batted .167/.241/.319 in 72 at bats.[5]

In 2019, Higashioka batted .214 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 18 games with the Yankees.

On September 16, 2020, Higashioka hit three home runs in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Kyle Higashioka is the first Yankees player in franchise history with a 3-HR game batting 9th.

Gerrit Alan Cole (born September 8, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). Nicknamed "Cole Train", he previously played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros. Cole played for the baseball team at Orange Lutheran High School, and was selected by the Yankees in the first round of the 2008 MLB Draft. Cole opted not to sign, and instead attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he played college baseball for the UCLA Bruins.

After his college baseball career, the Pirates made Cole the first overall selection in the 2011 MLB draft. Cole made his MLB debut in 2013, and was named the National League (NL) Rookie of the Month in September 2013. He was named the NL Pitcher of the Month for April 2015, and an MLB All-Star in 2015. The Pirates traded Cole to the Astros in the 2017–18 offseason. On September 18, 2019, Cole became the 18th pitcher in major league history to strike out at least 300 batters in a season.[1] On December 16, 2019, Cole signed a $324 million contract with the Yankees, the largest contract in major league history for a pitcher.

1914At the age of 23, Yankees shortstop Roger Peckinpaugh is hired to replace Frank Chance as the skipper of the team. During his 20-game tenure as the player-manager, the young infielder will finish the season with a 10-10 record for the sixth-place club.

Roger Thorpe Peckinpaugh (February 5, 1891 – November 17, 1977) was an American professional baseball player shortstop and manager. The Senators acquired Peckinpaugh, where he continued to play until his final season, spent with the White Sox. After his playing career, Peckinpaugh managed the Indians from 1928 through 1933 and in 1941. He was also a minor league baseball manager, and served in the front office of the Indians and Buffalo Bisons from 1942 through 1947.
